195cm Solid Wood Norwegian Cross-Country Skis - Lillehammer Born!
Description
195cm Solid Wood Norwegian Cross-Country Skis - Lillehammer Born!Skis don't get any more original than these. Recently acquired from a seller in Lillehammer, these boards were likely hand crafted in one of the many small ski shops that dotted the landscape of Norway a hundred years ago. While the skis bear no identifying markings, one can see a faint outline of edge stenciling at the tip of one of the skis. So they were either made for resale, or lovingly personalized by the owner. We haven't done a heavy duty
which have a rubber plate added which you will appreciate because it grips better
Both types of bindings had the benefit of only needing a groove on the back of the boot heel (and sometimes even that wasn't necessary) to function
never want to
Top racers like Juha Mieto used Swedish poles until the arrival of the groundbreaking Exel carbonfiber poles in the mid-70s
This pair is an example from the apex of the woodski era
Well we didn't actually find these in a cave
regardless this pair is a matched set
While not a "numbers matching" pair - wood racing skis had a tendency to break easily so it was not uncommon for two skis from different original pairs to be brought together - these skis are identical in camber
or for the adventurous will slide like they just left the factory
Sixten Jernberg pushed planks of wood through the snow to Olympic victory in the 1950s
Ivar Halvorsen's company
these skis have also traveled by train to the snø
